Once you’ve selected your handheld electrode, you’ll have several options available to ensure a good connection with your client’s hand. An electrode sponge is one option and is a great conductor and super convenient as they can be re-used several times. We offer a bulk pack of five sponges so you can keep a nice supply on hand. Since they do come in direct contact with the client, keeping them clean in between uses is a must. There are several options to disinfecting your sponges, with solutions or heat. We detail a few options here. Either way sponges harbor bacteria so make sure you are able to dry them out thoroughly before reusing.
Of course, there are other alternatives to sponges when looking for a conductor. One such option is a liquid conductor such as SignaSpray. Simply spray this electrode solution onto the palm of your client’s hand to obtain a good electrical contact for the hand held electrode. A second alternative is a cream conductor which may be less “sticky” feeling for your client. SignaCreme is one such product which is cosmetic quality, hypoallergenic and pleasant to use. The cream may be removed with a tissue or simply rubbed into the skin after electrolysis as a moisturizer. Aquasonic Gel is a third option some choose as it is available in much larger quantities.
